E. L. Doheny, V As a former City Prosecutor and Deputy General Counsel to the Los Angeles
Board of Airport Commissioners, Edward "Sean" L. Doheny is experienced in both
the courtroom and the boardroom. As a City Prosecutor, Mr. Doheny represented
the people of the City of Los Angeles in over 50 jury trials ranging from
criminal manslaughter to driving while under the influence with a conviction
rate of over ninety six percent. He also handled the negotiations and settled
over 5,000 criminal cases as the master calendar deputy prosecutor.
As Deputy General Counsel, Mr. Doheny structured the transactions for the
acquisition of over $350 million of real property for the expansion of the Los
Angeles International Airport under Major Richard Riordon's master plan and the
expansion of the Ontario International Airport; represented the airport as part
of the drafting team responsible for rewriting the Los Angeles Administrative
and Municipal Code; drafted millions of dollars worth of business contracts used
in the operation of an international airport; redrafted the standard terms and
conditions of all leases, residential, commercial and industrial, used by Los
Angeles World Airports; and handled most real estate issues ranging from
condemnation to landlord tenant disputes.
As a partner in his own practice in La Jolla, California, Mr. Doheny spent
the last five years litigating real estate disputes; counseling clients
regarding real estate transactions; structuring financing for commercial real
estate acquisition and development; providing clients with estate planning
advice and business succession plans.
